These terms govern your use of PrismSplit. Please read them carefully - by creating an account or using the app, you accept them.
PrismSplit is a tool for tracking shared expenses, splitting bills, and recording settlements between you and people you choose to share with.
Important: PrismSplit does not process payments and is not a money-transmission, banking, lending, or financial service. Any payments you settle with another person happen outside the app (cash, Venmo, PayPal, bank transfer, etc.) and are entirely your own responsibility.
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EEA / UK) to use PrismSplit, and old enough under your local law to enter into a binding contract.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being used to violate these terms, harm others, or break the law.
You agree not to: (a) upload content you do not have the right to upload; (b) use the app to harass, defraud, or extort other users; (c) attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or overload our systems; (d) scrape or bulk-extract data; (e) impersonate someone else; (f) upload malware or illegal content; or (g) use the app for anything illegal. We reserve the right to remove content and accounts that violate these rules.
PrismSplit uses third-party AI (currently Google Gemini) to extract items, prices, taxes, tips, and totals from receipt images you upload. AI can and does make mistakes - it may misread numbers, miss line items, get the merchant wrong, or hallucinate values.
You are solely responsible for reviewing and correcting AI-extracted data before saving a bill or settling with anyone. We provide the scanning feature "as is" with no warranty of accuracy. We are not liable for any disputes, losses, or amounts paid based on incorrect AI output.
You keep ownership of the content you upload. By uploading, you grant PrismSplit a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, transmit to other space members you choose, and share with the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, solely to operate and improve the app.
PrismSplit displays balances and suggested settlements based on the data you and other space members enter. These figures are estimates, not legally binding accounting records. Any disagreement about who owes whom must be resolved directly between the people involved. PrismSplit is not a party to those debts and is not responsible for collecting, enforcing, or refunding them.
PrismSplit currently offers a free tier with daily limits (AI scans, bills created, number of spaces). Paid plans may be introduced in the future. Limits, features, and prices may change with reasonable notice. We may show non-personalised ads to free-tier users in order to fund the service; we will not use your personal data to target third-party advertising without your consent.
You can delete your account at any time from Privacy settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if we decide to discontinue the service. On termination, your right to use the app ends, but provisions that by their nature should survive (e.g. disclaimers, limits of liability, dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
PrismSplit is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, secure, or always available.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PrismSplit and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of the app. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the app will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 20. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits - in that case, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by your local law.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless PrismSplit and its operators from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the app, or your violation of these terms or any law or third-party right.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, where reasonably practicable. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the PrismSplit operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence apply. We will try to resolve any dispute informally first - please contact us before initiating formal proceedings.
